Travel Notice: Eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki

Since the recent eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki Eruption on 20 March 2025, the Indonesian authorities have placed the alert-level for Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki at Level 4 (Awas or Warning) and has advised residents not to carry out any activities within 7 km from the crater and within an 8 km radius toward the southwest to northeast sectors. There have also been reports of flight cancellations and delays at the airports in the surrounding areas.

 

Given the volcanic activity of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki and the related travel disruptions, Singaporeans should check on advisories issued by Indonesia’s Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Agency (PVMBG) at https://vsi.esdm.go.id/ and contact their airline for updates before their travel. Singaporeans in the area should monitor these developments closely and adhere to local advisories. They should take necessary precautions for their personal safety and e-Register with MFA immediately at https://eregister.mfa.gov.sg/ if they have not done so. Since the last eruption of Mount Semeru on 10 March 2025, the Indonesian authorities have placed the alert-level for Mount Semeru at Level 2 (Waspada or Beware) and has advised residents not to carry out any activities within 8 km from the crater and within a 500 metres from any Besuk Kobokan riverbank.

Given the volcanic activity of Mount Semeru as well as other active volcanoes in the region, Singaporeans should check on advisories issued by Indonesia’s Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Agency (PVMBG) at https://vsi.esdm.go.id/ before their travel. Singaporeans in the area should monitor these developments closely and adhere to local advisories.
