FOREIGN MINISTER GEORGE YEO'S MEETINGS WITH CAMBODIAN LEADERS
On his second day of his official visit to Cambodia, Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo called on His Majesty King Sihamoni, Prime Minister Hun Sen, DPM and Co-Minister for Interior Prince Norodom Sirivudh, and DPM and Minister-in-Charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers Sok An.
Both His Majesty King Sihamoni and Minister Yeo reaffirmed the longstanding and close ties between Singapore and Cambodia.
Minister Yeo held a warm and wide-ranging exchange with PM Hun Sen, during which bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues were discussed. PM Hun Sen expressed appreciation for Singapore's assistance to Cambodia's economic development. He also briefed Minister Yeo on the Cambodian Government's reform process. Minister Yeo reiterated Singapore's continuing support for Cambodia's development efforts.
During his calls on DPM Prince Sirivudh and DPM Sok An, Minister Yeo discussed with the two DPMs on how bilateral cooperation between Singapore and Cambodia could be increased.
Minister Yeo also visited Bright Sky Pte Ltd, a garment factory operated by Oceansky International, a Singapore-own company that employs around 9,000 workers in Cambodia. Minister Yeo also had lunch with executives from Singapore-owned businesses in Cambodia. He also had dinner with prominent personalities from think-tanks based in Cambodia.
Minister Yeo will leave Phnom Penh tomorrow.
