MFA Press Statement: Meeting between Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and US Secretary of Defence Robert Gates, 31 May 2008

US Secretary of Defence Robert Gates called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong this evening. Prime Minister Lee and Secretary Gates discussed a wide range of issues including recent developments in Asia and the Middle East. Mr Lee emphasised the importance of the United States' role in the Asia-Pacific region. They also affirmed the excellent defence and security cooperation between Singapore and the United States.
