In response to media queries on the Magistrate's Complaint filed against Mr Bader I F Al Balawi, Third Secretary of the Saudi Embassy in Singapore, the MFA spokesman said:
"MFA has been in touch with the Saudi Ambassador to Singapore on this matter. We have emphasized the importance of observing the due process of law in Singapore and asked that Mr Bader and the Saudi Embassy cooperate fully with the Singapore authorities. The Ambassador has assured us that the Saudi Embassy respects Singapore's laws and regulations, and would extend its full cooperation to ensure that the facts of the case can be established and the matter handled within Singapore's legal processes.
As the matter is before the Attorney-General's Chambers now, it is not proper for MFA to speculate on what steps will be taken."
