Joint Press Release by MFA, MTI and MND: Visit of Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng to the People's Republic of China

Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Wong Kan Seng will make an official visit to the People's Republic of China on 22 - 24 July 2010 at the invitation of Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan.

DPM Wong will be in Beijing to co-chair the 7th Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) meeting on 23 July to review as well as explore new areas of cooperation between the two countries. DPM Wong will also co-chair the 12th Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) Joint Steering Council (JSC) and the 3rd Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city (TEC) JSC meetings with Vice Premier Wang Qishan on 23 July. The SIP JSC and TEC JSC meetings will take stock of the progress and chart the future directions for the two Government-to-Government flagship projects. DPM Wong is also scheduled to call on Vice President Xi Jinping and meet State Councillor and Minister of Public Security Meng Jianzhu.

DPM Wong will be accompanied by Minister for National Development Mah Bow Tan, Minister, Prime Minister's Office's Lim Swee Say, Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Second Minister for Finance and Transport Lim Hwee Hua, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Balaji Sadasivan, Minister of State for Trade and Industry Lee Yi Shyan, Parliamentary Secretary for Trade and Industry and Information Communication and the Arts Sam Tan, and other senior officials.
