Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli met with the Governor of Jeddah HRH Prince Mishaal Bin Majid Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on 21 November 2013 in Jeddah. The two leaders discussed the common challenges in town planning faced by both Singapore and Jeddah, as well as explored further cooperation. SMS Masagos also met with the Singaporean community based in Jeddah and the surrounding areas on the same day.
From Jeddah, SMS Masagos travelled to Makkah and Madinah on 22 November and had separate meetings with Singaporean students studying in the two cities. In Makkah, SMS Masagos hosted lunch for the students. In Madinah, SMS Masagos had an engaging dialogue with approximately 30 students on various issues that affected the community and Singapore.
From Madinah, SMS Masagos proceeded to Riyadh where he would call on the Governor of Madinah Prince Faisal Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at the latter’s palace, as well as be briefed by Saudi agencies on the planning and development of Riyadh. SMS Masagos will meet with a group of Singaporeans based in Riyadh before returning to Singapore on 25 November 2013.
