The Government of the Republic of Singapore, with the agreement of the Federal Republic of Germany, has appointed Dr Dirk Lorenz-Meyer as Singapore’s Honorary Consul in Hamburg, Germany, with jurisdiction in the State of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
Hitherto, Singapore is represented in Germany by our Ambassador in Berlin as well as our Honorary Consul-General in Stuttgart. This appointment, which is taking place in the year in which Singapore and Germany are celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations, will therefore further strengthen Singapore’s representation in Germany.
Dr Lorenz-Meyer, 43, is a Director and Board Member of Behn Meyer Holding AG, a specialty supplier for a variety of life sciences industries across Southeast Asia. He was based in Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia, working for various subsidiaries of the Behn Meyer Group for close to 10 years after earning a doctorate in International Management at the Friedrich-Schiller-University in Jena.
Through his appointment as the Honorary Consul, Dr Lorenz-Meyer will carry out notarial functions and extend consular assistance to Singaporeans, as well as perform other representational duties.
