Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong received a phone call from Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on 16 September 2021.
Prime Minister Morrison briefed Prime Minister Lee on the newly-established trilateral partnership amongst Australia, the UK and the US, or AUKUS. Prime Minister Lee noted the long-standing bilateral and multilateral relations that Singapore shared with Australia, the UK and the US, and hoped that AUKUS would contribute constructively to the peace and stability of the region and complement the regional architecture.
The Prime Ministers also discussed how both countries are tackling the COVID-19 pandemic. Prime Minister Morrison thanked Prime Minister Lee for the dose sharing arrangement of COVID-19 vaccines concluded in August 2021.
