Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Dr AK Abdul Momen is in Singapore as part of a regional visit to Asia. His visit coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Bangladesh.
Minister Momen called on President Halimah Yacob at the Istana today. President Halimah and Minister Momen reaffirmed the close ties between Singapore and Bangladesh and discussed possible avenues to deepen economic relations. Minister Momen also met Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan and was hosted to iftar by Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Education and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman on 18 April 2022. The Ministers expressed confidence in the strong relations between Singapore and Bangladesh and discussed areas of further cooperation. They had a good exchange of views on regional and global developments. Minister Momen will also deliver a public lecture organised by the Institute of South Asian Studies on 20 April 2022.
Minister Momen is accompanied by senior officials from the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
