President Halimah Yacob will make a State Visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan from 21 to 23 May 2023 at the invitation of His Excellency President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. President Halimah will also make a State Visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan from 23 to 25 May 2023 at the invitation of His Excellency President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. These will be the first State Visits by a Singaporean President to Central Asia.
In Kazakhstan, President Halimah will be accorded a State Welcome Ceremony at the Akorda Palace and call on President Tokayev, who will host a State Luncheon in President Halimah’s honour. President Halimah will be hosted to dinner by His Excellency Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov. President Halimah will meet with Singapore and Kazakh business leaders at the Singapore–Kazakhstan Business Forum. She will also visit the Astana International Financial Centre and the Nazarbayev University.
In Uzbekistan, President Halimah will be accorded a State Welcome Ceremony at the Kuksaroy Palace and call on President Mirziyoyev, who will host a State Luncheon in President Halimah’s honour. President Halimah will meet with Singapore and Uzbek business leaders at the Singapore–Uzbekistan Business Forum and visit the Academy of Public Administration. In addition, President Halimah will visit Samarkand and will be hosted to lunch by His Excellency Governor of Samarkand Region Erkinjon Turdimov.
President Halimah will be accompanied by Mr Mohamed Abdullah Alhabshee, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Education and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry Dr Tan See Leng, Members of Parliament Gan Thiam Poh and Tin Pei Ling, as well as officials from the President’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Industry, and Enterprise Singapore.
During President Halimah’s absence, Mr Eddie Teo, Chairman of the Council of Presidential Advisers, will exercise the function of the Office of the President.
