11 January 2010

MFA launches its Twitter account @MFAsg.

12 to 13 April 2010

Singapore attends the inaugural Nuclear Security Summit in Washington DC.

27 September 2010

Singapore and Russia sign the Agreement of the Establishment of the Russia-Singapore High-Level Inter-Governmental Commission (IGC). The idea to set up IGC was mooted by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev during his State Visit to Singapore in November 2009.

11 to 12 November 2010

Singapore attends the G20 Summit held in Seoul, Republic of Korea. This is the first time Singapore is invited to participate in the G20 Summit as a guest country.

21 May 2011

Mr K Shanmugam becomes Minister (Foreign Affairs).

17 June 2011

Singapore and Malaysia fully implement the Points of Agreement on Malayan Railway Land in Singapore.

31 August 2011

Singapore hands over the waterworks under the 1961 Water Agreement to the Johor water authorities upon the expiry of the 1961 Water Agreement on 31 August 2011.

22 September 2011

Singapore concludes its first Universal Periodic Review (UPR) with the adoption of Singapore’s National Report at the 18th Session of the Human Rights Council (HRC) in Geneva.

12 July 2012

Minister (Foreign Affairs and Law) K Shanmugam and US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton sign a Memorandum of Understanding on the Singapore-United States Third Country Training Programme.

22 August 2012

MFA Consular launches its smartphone app MFA@SG.

18 October 2012

Singapore and France sign the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership during French Prime Minister Jean Marc Ayrault’s official visit to Singapore.

29 November 2012

20th anniversary of the Singapore Cooperation Programme (SCP) and launch of the S R Nathan Fellowship.

15 May 2013

Singapore is granted observership in the Arctic Council.

21 April 2014

Singapore and Guangdong sign a Memorandum of Understanding for senior officials from Guangdong province to attend customised Singapore Cooperation Programme (SCP) courses in Singapore.

3 September 2014

Singapore and Indonesia sign the Treaty between Indonesia and Singapore Relating to the Delimitation of the Territorial Seas of the Two Countries in the Eastern Part of the Strait of Singapore.

4 September 2014

Singapore announces a Technical Cooperation Package for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) comprising priority places in Singapore Cooperation Programme (SCP) courses, customised programmes, and fellowships in civil aviation and maritime courses.

20 to 25 October 2014

President Tony Tan Keng Yam's State Visit to the UK. This is the first State Visit by a Singapore President to the UK.

26 January 2015

Second Minister (Foreign Affairs) Grace Fu and Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano sign a Memorandum of Understanding on the Singapore-IAEA Third Country Training Programme.

17 to 23 May 2015

State Visit by President Tony Tan Keng Yam to France to commemorate the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations between Singapore and France.

29 June 2015

Singapore and Australia sign the Joint Declaration on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

1 July 2015

The Singapore Cooperation Programme (SCP) welcomes its 100,000th participant.

4 July 2015

Singapore Botanic Gardens inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site at the 39th Session of the World Heritage Committee in Bonn, Germany.

5 August 2015

Minister (Foreign Affairs and Law) K Shanmugam and US Secretary of State John Kerry renew the Memorandum of Understanding on the Singapore-United States Third Country Training Programme.

28 September 2015

Minister (Environment and Water Resources) Dr Vivian Balakrishnan announces Singapore’s Sustainable Development Programme at the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit.

Dr Vivian Balakrishnan becomes Foreign Minister.

Singapore and People’s Republic of China sign the Framework Agreement on the Development of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity.

Singapore announces an Enhanced Technical Assistance Package for the Palestinian National Authority focused primarily at capacity building in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

9 June 2016

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong launches the Singapore-Myanmar Vocational Training Institute (SMVTI) in Yangon, Myanmar.

19 July 2016

Singapore and Malaysia sign the Memorandum of Understanding on the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail project.

31 July to 3 August 2016

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s official visit to the United States at the invitation of President Barack Obama. This is the first Official Visit with State Dinner hosted for a Singapore Prime Minister in 31 years.

21 September 2016

Singapore deposits its instrument of ratification of the Paris Agreement on climate change at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

18 October 2016

Singapore and UN-Habitat sign a Memorandum of Understanding to develop international capacity development programmes.

28 November to 6 December 2016

State Visit by President Tony Tan Keng Yam to Japan, in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Japan.

13 December 2016

French President Francois Hollande made the first State Visit to Singapore.

8 June 2017

The Government of Mongolia waived the visa facility for Singaporean nationals entering Mongolia. Singapore nationals travelling to Mongolia for tourism or business, for a stay of up to 30 days, will be exempted from applying for a visa.
