In response to press queries, the MFA Spokesman said:
"The Philippines, as Chairman of the ASEAN Standing Committee, had requested that the special meeting of ASEAN Foreign Ministers on Cambodia be held in Singapore because it was more convenient for all ASEAN Foreign Ministers to travel to the meeting here at short notice. Singapore has agreed to this request. The meeting to be held on 11 August 1997 will be chaired by the Philippines Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Mr Domingo Siazon. Details will be given later."
