In response to press queries on the Bernama report of 20 Aug 99 which quoted Transwater Corporation Bhd's group executive director K. L. Kong as saying that negotiations on the proposed bridge to replace the Causeway were ongoing on a government to government basis and a preliminary reference on the project had been sent to the Singapore Government, the MFA Spokesman said:
"Singapore has not received any official proposal from the Malaysian Government. If Singapore were to receive a serious proposal from the Malaysian Government, we will evaluate it and do a cost-benefit analysis. Only then will the Singapore Government be in a position to comment further."
