The Honourable George W Bush
Governor of Texas
State Capitol
PO Box 12428
Austin, Texas 78711
Dear Governor Bush
I would like to extend my warmest congratulations on your election as the next President of the United States.
You face the challenge of building consensus on many domestic issues. Also, you have to attend to the economy which many have forecast is heading for a soft landing. Given your experience and track record as Governor of Texas, I am confident that you will be able to unite America and successfully deal with these challenges.
But even as you deal with domestic issues, the world will look to you and the US for global leadership. I am heartened by the fact that you and your team of foreign policy advisors recognise the important role and responsibility of the US in the global arena. May I add that it is strategically important that the US remain engaged in Asia and ASEAN.
Our two countries enjoy warm and close relations. I look forward to working with you to strengthen our bilateral relations.
Yours sincerely
Sgd
