MFA Press Statement - Working Visit of Prime Minister of Thailand to Singapore, 5-7 September 2003

The Prime Minister of Thailand, Pol Lt Col Thaksin Shinawatra, will make a working visit to Singapore from 5 to 7 September 2003 at the invitation of Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong. Prime Minister Thaksin will be accompanied by his wife, Khunying Potjaman Shinawatra; Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak; Foreign Minister Surakiart Sathirathai; Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Sora-at Klinpratoom; Minister of Transport Suriya Jungrungreangkit and Minister of Commerce Adisai Bodharamik.

The two Prime Ministers will hold discussions on a wide range of issues. Besides seeking ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, they will exchange views on enhancing regional cooperation, especially in the context of the ASEAN Summit, which will be held in Bali from 7 to 8 October 2003. They will also discuss the forthcoming APEC Economic Leaders Meeting to be held in Bangkok from 20 to 21 October 2003. Prime Minister Goh and Prime Minister Thaksin will jointly open the APEC Secretariat in Singapore on 6 September 2003.
