His Excellency Seyed Mohammad Khatami
President of the Islamic Republic of Iran
Dear President
I am very dismayed and saddened by the news of the massive earthquake that struck the city of Bam, and the tremendous loss of lives that resulted. Our hearts are with the survivors who have lost everything and still have to get through the harsh winter. The widespread destruction has robbed them of their homes and basic amenities.
On behalf of the people and Government of Singapore, I extend to the families of the victims our deepest condolences, and wish those injured a speedy recovery from their trauma.
Yours sincerely
