APPOINTMENT OF SINGAPORE'S HONORARY CONSUL-GENERAL IN BARCELONA, SPAIN

The Government of the Republic of Singapore, with the agreement of the Government of the Kingdom of Spain, has appointed Mr Josep Manuel Basas?ez Villaluenga as Singapore's Honorary Consul-General in Barcelona, Spain.

Mr Basas?ez, 61, graduated from the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya. He is currently President of Caprabo SA, the third largest supermarket chain in Spain, and Holding de Mercados Financieros SA, a Spanish holding company which has interests in financial market trading. He is also Vice-Chairman of the Catalan Employers Organisation and First Vice-Chairman of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce. Mr Basas?ez was formerly Minister of Economy and Finance of the Catalan Government and Vice-Chairman of the Spanish Council of Fiscal and Financial Policy.

Mr Basas?ez is married with two children.
