INTRODUCTORY VISIT BY PRIME MINISTER LEE HSIEN LOONG TO NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM AND MALAYSIA
4-5 OCTOBER 2004

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will begin his series of introductory visits to ASEAN capitals with visits to Brunei and Malaysia on 4 and 5 October 2004 respectively. Prime Minister Lee will make a day-trip to Bandar Seri Begawan on 4 October 2004, before arriving in Kuala Lumpur later that evening. The Kuala Lumpur programme will begin on 5 October 2004.

In Brunei, Prime Minister Lee will call on His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. The Sultan will also host Prime Minister Lee and his delegation to lunch.

In Malaysia, Prime Minister Lee will meet with Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi. Prime Minister Abdullah will host Prime Minister Lee and his delegation to lunch. Prime Minister Lee and Prime Minister Abdullah will, in their respective capacities as Finance Ministers, sign a revised Double Taxation Agreement between Singapore and Malaysia.

Prime Minister Lee will be accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo, Minister for Defence RADM (NS) Teo Chee Hean, Minister for Education Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and other senior officials. During the visits, the accompanying Ministers will also meet with their counterparts in Brunei and Malaysia.

During Prime Minister Lee's absence, Deputy Prime Minister Dr Tony Tan will be the Acting Prime Minister.
