MFA Press Statement - Singapore's Relief Assistance to Countries Stricken by the Earthquake and Tsunamis

As part of the Singapore Government's S$2 million humanitarian aid package to countries stricken by the earthquake and tsunamis on 26 Dec 04, the Government has despatched a SAF C-130 aircraft with relief and medical supplies to Medan, Indonesia.

Over the next few days, the Singapore Government expects to airlift more of such relief supplies to other disaster-stricken countries that have requested for assistance.

The airlift to Medan is the first of such emergency relief supplies to support the ongoing rescue efforts of the Indonesian government. The shipment includes tentages, groundsheets, blankets as well as medical and food supplies, and was handed over to the Indonesian authorities in Medan today.
