MFA Press Statement: State Visit of Indian President Dr Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam to Singapore, 1-2 February 2006

Dr Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, President of the Republic of India, will make a State Visit to Singapore from 1 to 2 February 2006.

President Kalam will be accompanied by Members of Parliament Mrs Sumitra Mahajan, Mr Vanlalzawma and Mr Sachin Pilot, as well as senior officials from the President's Office and the Ministry of External Affairs.

During the visit, President Kalam will call on President S R Nathan, and President Nathan will host a State Banquet in President Kalam's honour. President Kalam will also meet Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo, Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang and Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean. As part of the visit, President Kalam will deliver the 27th Singapore Lecture entitled "Evolution of Enlightened Societies on our Planet" on 1 February 2006.
