The Government has appointed Mr T Jasudasen as Singapore's next High Commissioner to Malaysia. He will assume post on 19 June 2006.
Mr Jasudasen was Singapore's Ambassador to the Union of Myanmar from 2004 to 2006 and Singapore's Ambassador to the French Republic from 1997 to 2004. He joined the Ministry in 1977 and has served at the Singapore Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, the Singapore Embassy in Manila and the Singapore High Commission in Kuala Lumpur. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he was Director of the Asean Directorate and Director, Policy, Planning and Analysis Directorate IV.
Mr Jasudasen graduated with an Honours degree in Law from the University of Singapore. He also studied Public Administration at the Ecole Nationale d'Administration in Paris, France.
Mr Jasudasen was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 1990. The French Government decorated him twice, with the Commander of the "Palmes Académiques" in 2002 and Officer in the "Légion d'Honneur" in 2004.

BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY
Mr T Jasudasen was Singapore's Ambassador to the Union of Myanmar from 2004 to 2006.
Born in Malaysia in June 1952, Mr Jasudasen completed his school education at Raffles Institution and the National Junior College, Singapore, in 1970. He graduated with an Honours degree in Law from the University of Singapore in 1977. He became the first Singapore student to attend the Ecole Nationale d'Administration, France, in 1983/84 on a Singapore/French Government Scholarship.
Mr Jasudasen joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a Foreign Service Officer in 1977. His first overseas posting was at the Singapore Permanent Mission to the UN in New York from 1979 to 1981. He served as Counsellor and Chargé d'Affaires at the Singapore Embassy in Manila from 1988 to 1990. He then served as Minister-Counsellor and Deputy High Commissioner at the Singapore High Commission in Kuala Lumpur from 1991 to 1994.
He returned to the Ministry headquarters in 1994 where he was initially appointed Director of the Asean Directorate and later as Director, Policy, Planning and Analysis Directorate IV.
Mr Jasudasen was appointed Ambassador to the French Republic from July 1997 to September 2004. He was concurrently accredited to Portugal, Spain and Israel.
Mr Jasudasen was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 1990 and the Long Service Medal in 2000. The French Government decorated him twice, with the Commander of the "Palmes Académiques" in April 2002 and Officer in the "Légion d'Honneur" in September 2004.
He is married to Mdm Patricia Ibbotson and they have a son and twin daughters.
