Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will make an official visit to the United Kingdom from 7 to 9 September 2006. He will then proceed to Helsinki, Finland, to attend the Sixth Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM VI Summit) from 9 to 11 September 2006. PM Lee will be accompanied by Mrs Lee and Foreign Minister George Yeo in the UK.
This will be PM Lee's introductory visit to the United Kingdom. In London, he will meet with the British Prime Minister, The Rt Hon Tony Blair MP. The Leader of the House of Commons and Lord Privy Seal, The Rt Hon Jack Straw MP, will host PM to lunch. PM will also meet with senior business and financial executives and deliver a keynote address at Lloyd's Annual City Dinner 2006.
The Helsinki Summit will mark the 10th Anniversary of ASEM. While there, PM Lee will also hold bilateral meetings with several ASEM leaders.
During PM's absence, Deputy Prime Minister S Jayakumar will be the Acting Prime Minister from 6 to 12 September 2006.
