Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will be making an official visit to Saudi Arabia from 24 to 27 November 2006 and to Qatar from 27 to 30 November 2006. This will be PM's first visit to the Middle East.
In Saudi Arabia, PM will meet the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques His Majesty King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud and other members of the Saudi royal family and Cabinet. PM is also scheduled to meet leading Saudi business leaders and attend a luncheon hosted by the Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
In Qatar, PM will meet the Amir of Qatar His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Heir Apparent His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, other members of the Qatari royal family and Cabinet, as well as leading Qatari businessmen. PM will witness the signing of the Double Taxation Agreement and the Memorandum of Understanding on the Asia-Middle East Dialogue (AMED) Regional Training Centre in Doha.
PM will be accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister of State for Finance and Minister of State for Transport Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, Minister of State for Trade and Industry Lee Yi Shyan, senior government officials, and a business delegation.
