MFA Spokesman's Comments on the assault of the Singaporean by the Indonesian policeman on 20 November 2006

In response to media queries on the assault of the Singaporean by the Indonesian policeman on 20 November 2006, the MFA Spokesman said:

"Our Consulate in Pekanbaru has raised the matter with the Medan authorities. The local authorities have assured us that they are investigating the incident. Our Consulate has remained in contact with the Singaporean and his family, and will continue to render the necessary consular assistance."
