Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr George Yeo, will attend the 16th ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting (AEMM) from 14-15 March 2007 in Nuremberg, Germany. Bringing together Foreign Ministers from ASEAN and EU member countries and the European Commission, the AEMM is a forum to further strengthen links between ASEAN and Europe. The Ministers will exchange views on regional and global issues, and discuss ways to deepen cooperation on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of ASEAN-EU relations this year. While there, Minister Yeo will meet his German counterpart and host, Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Minister Yeo will also hold bilateral meetings with several of his other European counterparts.
Prior to his visit to Nuremberg, Minister Yeo will be in the city-state of Hamburg on 13 March 2007 to deliver a keynote speech at the annual dinner "Liebesmahl" of the Ostasiatisches Verein or German Asia-Pacific Business Association which is regularly attended by high-level representatives of the top German companies interested in Asia. While in Hamburg, Minister Yeo will call on Hamburg First Mayor Mr Ole von Beust and former German Chancellor Dr Helmut Schmidt.
