MFA Press Statement: Appointment Of Singapore's Honorary Consul-General In Lagos, Nigeria

The Government of the Republic of Singapore, with the agreement of the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has appointed Chief Harkishin (Haresh) Ghanshamdas Aswani as Singapore's Honorary Consul-General in Lagos, Nigeria.

Chief Aswani, 45, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, University of Houston, USA in 1984. He is currently the Managing Director of Tolaram Group of companies in Nigeria. A Singapore citizen, Chief Aswani has been living in Nigeria over the last 19 years. He has successfully created significant industrial and marketing businesses in Nigeria as well as in other parts of Africa. He was honoured with a Chieftancy title in May 2005 and a National Honour in Dec 2006 - Member of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (MFR), in recognition of his commitment to the economic and social development of Nigeria.
