MFA Press Statement: Appointment of Singapore’s Ambassador to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

The Government has appointed Mr Anil Kumar Nayar as Singapore's Ambassador to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, resident in Brussels. Mr Anil Kumar Nayar is concurrently Singapore's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, the European Commission and the Kingdom of Netherlands. He presented his credentials to the Grand Duke on 27 April 2007.

BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY

Mr Anil Kumar s/o N T Nayar is currently Singapore's Ambassador to Belgium with concurrent accreditation to the European Communities, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

Born on 22 August 1968, Mr Nayar graduated with a Bachelor of Social Science (Honours II Upper) in 1993 from the National University of Singapore. He obtained a Master of Arts in International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University, United States in 2001.

Mr Nayar joined the Foreign Service in June 1993, where he held the posts of Country Officer/North America from June 1993 to February 1994 and Country Officer/Indonesia from February 1994 to July 1995. His first overseas posting was to the Singapore Embassy in Jakarta as First Secretary from July 1995 to June 2000. On his return to the Ministry Headquarters, he was appointed as Senior Assistant Director/Indonesia from July to August 2000 and subsequently as Deputy Director/Malaysia and Brunei and other Southeast Asia from September 2001 to December 2002. He was the Senior Deputy Director from January 2003 to January 2004 and subsequently Director of the Policy Planning and Analysis Directorate I (Southeast Asia) until March 2005. From April 2005 to October 2006, Mr Nayar was Director (Southeast Asia).

Mr Nayar was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) by the Singapore Government in 2005.

Mr Nayar is married to Ms Chan Peck See.
