MFA Press Statement: Official Visit of The First Mayor of The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Mr Ole Von Beust, 23 - 25 May 2007

The First Mayor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Mr Ole von Beust, will be in Singapore for an official visit from 23 to 25 May 2007. Mr von Beust is accompanied by officials, as well as a business and press delegation.

Mr von Beust will call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy Prime Minister in his capacity as Acting Foreign Minister S Jayakumar, and will meet with Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang. Mr von Beust and his business delegation will also visit Hamburg-based companies during their stay.

Singapore has good relations with Hamburg, which is Germany's second-largest city and one of the more outward-looking German states. There are over 900 German companies in Singapore, including many from Hamburg.
