The President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Mr Kim Yong Nam, called on President S R Nathan at the Istana on 1 August 2007 and was also hosted to lunch by President Nathan. Both leaders reaffirmed the long-standing bilateral relations between Singapore and the DPRK and exchanged views on regional developments. Mr Kim briefed President Nathan on the situation in the DPRK and in the six-party talks. President Nathan shared Singapore's experiences in economic development and encouraged the DPRK to deepen its engagement of the global community.
