Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo met Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer at the sidelines of the 19th APEC Ministerial Meeting in Sydney. Minister Yeo congratulated Minister Downer on Australia's excellent chairmanship of the APEC Ministerial Meetings. The two Ministers reviewed the strong state of bilateral relations, and discussed ways to further deepen cooperation. In particular, Minister Yeo and Minister Downer looked forward to the next Singapore-Australia Joint Ministerial Committee (SAJMC), to be hosted by Singapore, and agreed to look at ways to improve the Singapore-Australia Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA). The two Ministers also exchanged views on regional developments of mutual interest.
