President of the Lombardy Region of the Republic of Italy, Mr Roberto Formigoni, made a courtesy call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong this afternoon at the Istana. During the call, Mr Lee and Mr Formigoni exchanged views on the many concrete areas of cooperation between Singapore and Italy, in particular with the Lombardy Region. These include collaborations in the fields of culture, and research and development. They also discussed the possibilities of enhancing economic ties between the two sides. Both leaders saw the potential for more partnerships between Singapore's small and medium companies and their Italian counterparts to expand into other emerging Asian markets.
