The German Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, HE Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier is in Singapore for a Working Visit on 28 February 2008.
During Dr Steinmeier's meeting with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, both leaders welcomed the strong relations between the two countries, and noted the growing number of German companies based in Singapore, as well as the increasing R&D cooperation among research institutions and universities. They also exchanged views on global and regional issues, including developments in China, Southeast Asia and Europe. Dr Steinmeier also met Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew during his Working Visit and they exchanged views on several issues including developments in ASEAN and the EU, and the challenges of regional integration.
