Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Member of the Political Bureau, Central Party Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, His Excellency Mr Le Thanh Hai, who is currently visiting Singapore under MFA's Distinguished Visitors' Programme, met Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo today. Mr Hai and Minister Yeo had a fruitful discussion on current global economic trends and common challenges faced by Singapore and Vietnam. They also reaffirmed the close bilateral relationship between the two countries, and exchanged views on how to enhance bilateral cooperation between Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City.
Earlier this morning, Mr Hai also called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana. During the meeting, Mr Hai briefed Mr Lee on Vietnam's economic preoccupations and challenges. They also discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas such as human resource development and training. Mr Lee and Mr Hai reaffirmed the importance of the Singapore-Vietnam Connectivity Framework Agreement to broaden collaboration between the two countries.
