President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, His Excellency Choummaly Sayasone will make a State Visit to Singapore from 8-11 June 2008 at the invitation of President S R Nathan. This will be the first State Visit to Singapore by a Lao Head of State.
President Choummaly will be accompanied by the First Lady Mrs Keosaychay Sayasone, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongloun Sisoulith, Minister (Head of the President's Office) Soubanh Srithirath, Minister for Planning and Investment Soulivong Daravong, as well as senior officials from the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the President's Office and National Tourism Authority.
During the visit, President Choummaly will pay a courtesy call on President S R Nathan and meet with Acting PM Prof S Jayakumar. President Choummaly will attend a State Banquet in his honour, hosted by President Nathan. In addition, President Choummaly will officiate at the opening of the "Glimpse of Laos", a contemporary Laotian Art Exhibition, at the Art House, and visit the Singapore Tourism Board and Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory. He will also be the Guest of Honour at a Networking Dinner to be held in conjunction with the International Enterprise Singapore's Business Seminar which aims to profile business opportunities in Laos.
