PRC Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi called on Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo at the Shangri-La Hotel on 22 July 2008. During the call, both Minister Yeo and Minister Yang reaffirmed the strong ties between the two countries and discussed international challenges such as the issues of food security and rising oil prices and their impact on the region. Both Ministers also exchanged views on the recent developments within ASEAN as well as the political situation in Northeast Asia.
Foreign Minister Yang is in Singapore to attend meetings held in conjunction with the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting from 22-24 July 2008.
