The Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius, His Excellency Navinchandra Ramgoolam, will make an Official Visit to Singapore from 8 October to 9 October 2008 at the invitation of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. This is the second Official Visit to Singapore by Prime Minister Ramgoolam. The Prime Minister's previous visit was in 1997.
Prime Minister Ramgoolam will be accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Veena Ramgoolam and senior officials.
During the visit, Prime Minister Ramgoolam will call on President S R Nathan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Prime Minister Lee will also host an Official Dinner in honour of Prime Minister Ramgoolam and Mrs Ramgoolam. In addition, Prime Minister Ramgoolam will meet Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for National Development Mah Bow Tan and make site visits to the Land Transport Authority and the NEWater Visitor Centre.
Prime Minister Ramgoolam will attend the PBD Singapore (Global Indian Diaspora Conference) on 10-11 October 2008, where he will be the Chief Guest for the business session on Tourism and Hospitality. More than 600 people are attending the conference, which is being held in Singapore for the first time.
