MFA Spokesman's Comments on the diversion of Qantas flight QF72 en route from Singapore to Perth on 7 October 2008

In response to media queries, the MFA Spokesman said,

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our High Commission in Canberra are monitoring the incident. Our High Commission is in close touch with Qantas and the relevant authorities. As at 1730 hours (Singapore time) today, there are no reports of Singaporeans having been injured. MFA and our High Commission will render the necessary assistance should there be Singaporeans affected. Singaporeans can call our 24-hour duty office hotline at +65 63798800 or the emergency contact number of our High Commission in Canberra at +61 414733944 should they have queries about their next of kin onboard flight QF72."
