Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia HE Quentin Bryce, who is on a State Visit to Singapore from 16-18 November 2008, called on President S R Nathan after receiving a Ceremonial Welcome at the Istana today. During their meeting, President welcomed Governor-General Bryce's first official visit to Singapore, noting that it was another symbol of the excellent bilateral ties and cooperation between Singapore and Australia. They reaffirmed and expressed their desire to strengthen the close people-to-people ties, especially in education, and discussed issues such as the global financial crisis. Following her meeting with President, Governor-General Bryce met with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. They had an exchange on a broad range of topics, including regional and international developments. Governor-General Bryce and her delegation were also hosted a State Banquet by President Nathan, which was attended by senior Cabinet Ministers.
