MFA Press Statement: Singapore's contributions to Yemen in response to an appeal for international aid

Singapore will be contributing US$20,000 worth of emergency relief supplies to the Government of Yemen in response to the latter's call for international aid after the devastation caused by the recent flooding in Yemen's Hadramaut region. Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo has conveyed his condolences to Yemeni Foreign Minister Abu Bakr Al-Qirbi and the Deputy Governor of the Hadramaut Region for Valley and Desert Affairs Ahmed Janned Aljunied.

Later this week, Singapore's Non-Resident Ambassador to Yemen Helmi Talib will be leading a team to Yemen to deliver the relief supplies and assist in recovery efforts in Hadramaut. He will be accompanied by representatives of the Arab Association of Singapore and Mercy Relief. The Arab Association, in close cooperation with Mercy Relief, will be coordinating the relief effort. The Arab Association is also leading an effort to raise funds in Singapore for relief assistance to the Yemeni people in the Hadramaut region.
