Singapore strongly condemns the terrorist bomb attack at Midan Hussein in Cairo yesterday evening. The attack clearly targeted innocent civilians. We extend our deepest condolences to all the victims and their families.
The number of casualties is not fully determined but the Egyptian media has reported 1 killed and 18 injured, comprising mostly foreigners and several Egyptians. So far, there are no reports of Singaporean casualties. Our Embassy in Cairo is in contact with the Egyptian authorities and is closely monitoring the situation.
Singapore stands with the international community to support the continued efforts of Egypt to combat terrorism.
