Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Wong Kan Seng is on a three-day visit (2 to 4 March 2009) to Doha, Qatar to co-chair the Third Meeting of the Qatar-Singapore High-Level Joint Committee (HLJC) with the Heir Apparent of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani.

Both sides welcomed the good progress made in bilateral cooperation since the Second HLJC Meeting in Singapore in October 2007 and reaffirmed their commitment to continue to build on the existing areas of cooperation, as well as explore new areas of collaboration. In this context, both sides welcomed the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding to cooperate in the areas of health, urban planning and manpower. His Highness Sheikh Tamim hosted lunch for DPM Wong and his delegation. Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani also attended the Third HLJC meeting and the lunch.

DPM Wong was also hosted to dinner by the Qatari Minister of State of Interior, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani today.
