(Photo: MFA) Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan called on President S R Nathan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana on 9 March 2009.
At their meetings, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan and the leaders discussed a wide range of issues including recent developments in the Middle East and Asia and the impact of the global financial crisis in both regions. They also discussed ways to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Singapore and the UAE and welcomed the healthy exchange of high-level visits.
Later in the evening, Deputy Prime Minister S. Jayakumar hosted a dinner for His Highness Sheikh Hamdan. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan and Deputy Prime Minister S. Jayakumar also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation between the Ministry of Finance (MOF) of the UAE and the MOF of the Republic of Singapore. The MoU was signed by the Undersecretary of the UAE MOF His Excellency Mr Younis Haji Al Khouri and Permanent Secretary for Finance Mr Teo Ming Kian. The MOU aims to further collaboration between the two Ministries through the sharing of experiences in the areas of public finance management, such as budgeting, debt management and tax administration, and covers activities such as study visits, seminars and workshops.
