Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo met the New Zealand Minister of Foreign Affairs Murray McCully today. Minister McCully was visiting Singapore to attend the New Zealand Business Forum. While in Singapore, Minister McCully also met with the Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen.
Minister Yeo and Minister McCully had a wide-ranging exchange of views on the evolving regional architecture, the East Asia Summit and the challenges facing the world in the light of the global economic downturn. They also discussed the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the upcoming APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting which would be held in Singapore, and expressed support for trade liberalisation.
Minister Yeo and Minister McCully also reaffirmed the good relations between Singapore and New Zealand, and agreed to work towards developing new areas for cooperation between the two countries.
