Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will attend the 14th ASEAN Related Summits in Pattaya, Thailand, from 10 to 12 April 2009. He will be accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo, Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang, and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Trade and Industry.
This will be the first Summit with ASEAN's Dialogue Partners since the entry into force of the ASEAN Charter on 15 December 2008. Prime Minister Lee will participate in the ASEAN Plus Three Summit which involves Leaders from China, Japan and the Republic of Korea. There will also be ASEAN Plus One summits with China, India, Japan and the Republic of Korea. Prime Minister Lee will also participate in the 4th East Asia Summit which will include all 10 ASEAN Leaders and their counterparts from Australia, China, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea and New Zealand. This will be followed by the 3rd ASEAN-UN Summit.
During the absence of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean will be the acting Prime Minister.
