MFA Press Statement: Visit to Singapore by Her Excellency Liu Yandong, Member Of The Political Bureau Of The Communist Party Of China (CPC) Central Committee and State Councilor

Madam Liu Yandong, State Councilor and Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, is visiting Singapore from 23 to 26 April at the invitation of the Singapore Government. She is accompanied by senior Chinese government officials, including Minister of Education Zhou Ji and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology Li Xueyong.

During her visit, Madam Liu called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and was hosted to a Welcome Lunch by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean. Both sides noted the excellent state of bilateral relations. At her meeting with the Prime Minister, both leaders discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the areas of Science and Technology, and Education. They also exchanged views on the approach that their respective governments have taken to deal with the global financial crisis.

Madam Liu will be calling on Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew tomorrow, before returning to China.
