President S R Nathan will make a State Visit to the Republic of Turkey from 8 to 14 June 2009. This is the first State Visit by a Singapore President to Turkey.
In Turkey, President Nathan will visit Ankara and Istanbul. He will meet President Abdullah Gül, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly Köksal Toptan. President Nathan will be hosted to a State Banquet by President Abdullah Gül. The Governor of Istanbul, Muammer Güler, will also host a lunch for President Nathan.
President Nathan will be accompanied during the State Visit by Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister for Finance and Second Minister for Transport Lim Hwee Hua, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Balaji Sadasivan, Senior Minister of State for Education and Trade & Industry S Iswaran, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Health Hawazi Daipi, Members of Parliament Penny Low and Christopher de Souza, and senior officials. A business delegation will also accompany President Nathan on the State Visit to Turkey.
