MFA Press Statement: 42th AMM/16th ARF/PMC, 4th ACC, and 2nd APSC Council Meeting

Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo will lead the Singapore delegation to the 42nd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM), the annual Post Ministerial Conferences (PMC) with its Dialogue Partners, the 16th ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), the 4th ASEAN Coordinating Council (ACC) Meeting, and the 2nd ASEAN Political and Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting in Phuket, Thailand from 19 to 23 July 2009.

At the meetings, the Ministers will discuss ASEAN's Community building efforts, review progress on the implementation of the ASEAN Charter, and take stock of ASEAN's relations with its external partners.

The ASEAN Foreign Ministers will also meet their counterparts from the ASEAN+3 as well as the East Asia Summit (EAS) countries1 on 22 July to discuss how to strengthen these key regional processes. During the PMCs on 22 July, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers will meet their counterparts from Australia, Canada, China, the European Union, India, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Russia, and the United States to discuss ways to enhance their cooperation.

On 23 July, the ARF Ministers will exchange views on key regional developments, review ARF's progress, and discuss ways to deepen cooperation among ARF countries.
