MFA Press Statement: Launch Of New eRegister Portal

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is launching a specialised portal for its eRegister services today. The new eRegister Portal eRegister Portal ( http://eregister.mfa.gov.sg ) will make the eRegistration process faster and more convenient for Singaporeans, with its improved user interface and enhanced features. Singaporeans will now be able to eRegister on the go, using their web-enabled mobile phones.

With the new eRegister Portal, frequent travellers are able to save their profile details for easy retrieval the next time they eRegister. The new system will also allow updates or changes to be made by the user after the initial eRegistration. On top of that, all eRegistrants will now receive an email or SMS acknowledgement with the contact details of the nearest Singapore overseas missions available at their travel destinations.

MFA started its eRegister service in 2000, to allow all Singaporeans who are travelling, living or moving to a foreign country to share their travel or relocation details with the Ministry. In times of emergencies and crises, this allows MFA to get in touch and render the necessary consular assistance in a timely fashion.

To further encourage Singaporeans to use the new eRegister, eRegistrants will be able to enjoy various promotions at participating outlets at Changi Airport. All they need to do is present their boarding pass and their eRegister acknowledgement email or SMS to enjoy the privileges. These promotions will start from 7 August 2009. Terms and conditions apply.

Visit eRegister Portal ( http://eregister.mfa.gov.sg ) for more information on eRegister.
