MFA Press Statement: Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo at the 64th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, 24 September 2009

Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo, who is in New York for the 64th Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, had several bilateral meetings on 24 September 2009.

During Minister Yeo's call on Mongolian President Tsakhia Elbegdorj, President Elbegdorj and Minister Yeo expressed their mutual desire to further strengthen the relations between Singapore and Mongolia and to widen the scope of bilateral cooperation. President Elbegdorj also updated Minister Yeo on the economic opportunities in Mongolia.

Minister Yeo also met with New Zealand Minister of Foreign Affairs Murray McCully, Nepali Minister of Foreign Affairs Sujata Koirala, Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Samuel Zbogar, Hungarian Minister for Foreign Affairs Peter Balazs, Senegalese Minister of Foreign Affairs Cheikh Tidiane Gadio, Tajik Minister of Foreign Affairs Hamrokhon Zarifi and Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs Markos Kyprianou.

In addition, Minister Yeo attended a Ministerial breakfast held in the morning of 24 September 2009 in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of the UN Relief and Works Agency. Minister Yeo also hosted a reception for the Foreign Ministers of the Forum of Small States (FOSS) in the evening.
