In response to media queries on reports that Singapore will host the ASEAN-US Summit later this year, the MFA Spokesman said:
"Singapore has offered to host a standalone meeting between the Leaders of the ten ASEAN Member States and the US. Singapore welcomes reports of US President Barack Obama's keenness to meet with ASEAN Leaders. Pending confirmation from the US, the meeting is planned for 15 November 2009."
